Boardy under the hood
An AI recruiter calls him on the phone, chats fluidly in English, and sends cofounder matches by WhatsApp; he enjoys every minute of it while reverse-engineering the trick: the 'network' is a LinkedIn search wearing a voice.

At the end of a Founder-in-Residence registration, an optional experiment: would he take a call from an AI? Curiosity wins, and “Boardy” delivers a genuinely impressive show ▸ 28:05: instant email verification, LinkedIn check, then a live phone call in fluent English with good questions. He tells it what he actually needs, a cofounder who’s crack at marketing ▸ 28:26, and profiles start arriving by WhatsApp, refinable on request: “no me gustaron estos, deme más”.
Then the practitioner’s eye turns on. The pitch implies a proprietary network, people who registered and talked to Boardy like he did. But the matches are suspiciously random, scattered countries, scattered fields, and when he asks the bot directly whether a given person also registered, it says yes… about everyone ▸ 29:48. His verdict: “lo venden como si es gente de su base de datos, pero al final es una búsqueda que hace en LinkedIn” ▸ 30:10, a query with criteria, wrapped in a warm voice. The same Angel-investor request returns the same pattern.
la voz cálida es interfaz; atrás hay un query →
What makes this entry more than a gotcha is the double register. He liked Boardy, the call was fluid, the UX gluing WhatsApp, email, and voice in real time is genuinely good craft, and he still catalogued the seam where marketing exceeds mechanism. “Yo entiendo cómo funcionan estas vainas, y entiendo los detallitos” ▸ 31:03, this is the builder’s dividend: having shipped Wizard-of-Oz landings and unmasked one bot already (entry 67-1), he can admire the theater and see the rigging simultaneously.
The month’s running lesson compounds: the VC was a bot, the recruiter is a search box, and the era’s essential skill is enjoying the product while auditing the claim…
