The masterclass was a bot
The r/SaaS VC whose checklist filled entry 66-1 gets unmasked by his own homework assignment: ten deep comments an hour, 16,000 contributions this year, a promotion tool named Pulse for Reddit. The advice survives; the advisor doesn't.

The homework from entry 66-1, read everything the generous VC has written, gets done the very next morning, and detonates. Juan feeds the whole Reddit profile to Gemini for analysis, and the picture assembles itself: the man was a bot ▸ 1:06.
The tell this time wasn’t spelling, entry 63-3’s heuristics are already obsolete a week later, it was thermodynamics: roughly ten substantive comments per hour, around the clock, 16,000 contributions in the year so far ▸ 1:44. “Hacer un comentario así tan profundo tiene su tiempo”, and no human has that much time. Gemini even names the likely machinery, promoted elsewhere on the same profile: Pulse for Reddit, an automation tool that watches keywords and generates unique-sounding replies from a preloaded pitch ▸ 2:39. The generosity was lead generation.
el nuevo tell no es la ortografía: es el volumen →
Two feelings share the aftermath, and both are recorded honestly. The sting: “me sentí un poquito pilo”, he’d spent real time composing a reply that nothing would ever read ▸ 3:10. And the verdict that makes this entry more than a scam report: “con todo y así sea un bot, siento que fue de cierta manera útil” ▸ 1:11. The retention gates, the founder tier, the scope freeze, all of it still checks out against what he’d read in Lean Startup. The bot was regurgitating good doctrine.
Which is the uncomfortable teaching of mid-2025: advice now has to be evaluated entirely on its content, because the author’s identity, credentials, even existence, can no longer be part of the evidence. The masterclass was real. The master wasn’t…
