Three years ago Juan agonized over making his CV pretty in Canva, color bars, an edited photo, an NFT off to the side, so it screamed 'this guy is unique.' He now knows that was all being read by an AI anyway. So the CV work moves into the Compass folder: markdown files of context about what he likes, dislikes, past projects, all in career terms. He opens a chat, points Claude at the folder, and it hands back three ready PDFs, even auto-shrinking the type when a résumé spills past a page (the last one came out ugly, and he doesn't care). Julia made her own Compass folder the same way. And the deeper habit: he records every interview with OBS, uploads it privately to YouTube for the transcript, then has Claude give feedback, learning that Claude is uselessly optimistic (it swore he'd advance right after a rejection) and that you must name a specific start date or you read as keeping the company as a backup.

He now knows the truth that dissolves all that effort: at any serious company that pays well, no human was studying his color choices and his little bar chart. An AI was reading it, and often making the first yes/no cut before a person ever saw it.
So the résumé moves into the Compass folder, the same one from the singularity work, now holding markdown files of context in strictly career terms: what he likes, what he dislikes, past projects. He opens a chat, points Claude at the folder, says make me a CV for this posting, and it hands back a PDF ▸ 37:03. He keeps about three versions rather than one per job, and Claude even proofs its own output, shrinking the type when a résumé runs past a page. The last one came out genuinely ugly, half a page of tiny lowercase, and he doesn’t care, the reader is a machine. Julia built her own Compass folder the same way.

Underneath is a habit worth stealing whole. He records every interview with OBS Studio (free), uploads it privately to YouTube purely to get the transcript without eating disk, then deletes it, and feeds the transcript to Claude for feedback ▸ 30:01. Two lessons came straight out of doing it. First, Claude is uselessly optimistic: not knowing he’d already been rejected, it told him it was 99% sure he’d advance, everything went great ▸ 30:46, which is a live reminder of why you push back on the machine instead of believing it. Second, a real interview tell: when they ask your availability, give a specific date, one week, two weeks, without hesitating. He’d said “one week, two, let’s say two,” and the impression that leaves is that you’re waiting on better offers and holding this company as a backup, the ugly girlfriend, a red flag that probably cost him the seat ▸ 31:31…
