The interview skipped the question
A promising remote-work funnel dies by assessment UX: a retry button that records instantly, a submit that does nothing, and a platform that jumps from question one to question three, swallowing the answer he'd actually prepared, plus his unrepentant calculator philosophy.

The funnel starts well: a recruiter’s LinkedIn message, a salary band of 300 to 800 that would comfortably bridge the REAPRA wait ▸ 8:13, forty questions in twenty minutes, spot-the-difference puzzles escalating to Where’s Waldo ▸ 9:26. The test bans calculators, and his response is a stated philosophy, not a guilty secret: “lo importante no es que uno sepa hacer las vainas mentalmente, sino que uno las pueda hacer” ▸ 10:28, and out comes the phone. The application essays get the same treatment, answered through his standing Gemini chat that already holds his whole history ▸ 12:18, all of it true, just retrieved by machine.
Then the video stage, and two failures compound. The human one first, worth naming because it’s universal: fluent in conversation, fluent on calls, he freezes the moment a timer and a recording light point at him, “yo me congelo” ▸ 14:01, Julia’s diagnosis in four words, “eres tu peor enemigo” ▸ 14:17.
la plataforma que te evalúa también está siendo evaluada; esta perdió →
The platform one is worse: retry starts recording with zero countdown ▸ 14:50, submit does visibly nothing, and after a blind double-submit the screen jumps from question one to question three ▸ 15:40, swallowing forever the answer he’d actually prepared, the market he wants to impact, knowledge velocity, his best material ▸ 16:03. Add the two-minute videos with no way to end early, ten seconds of staring at a lens with nothing left to say ▸ 16:38, and the recruiter’s silence afterward ▸ 17:11. An assessment platform is itself an interview, and this one failed his: unclear rules, destructive buttons, no recovery path, the exact sins he spent the week debugging out of Severo…
Postscript, one day later: the recruiter answered after all, with a link to record the swallowed question and an offer to redo all three videos. He records the missing one and lets the others stand, “los otros ya están aceptables, déjenmelos ahí” ▸ 0:21. Ghosting withdrawn; verdict pending.
