Become a concept
Why 120 videos on the vertical channels never grew, distilled with Claude into one branding law: to succeed you have to become a concept. You think Shakira, you think voice and hips; you think Bad Bunny, you think perreo. Those people win because they aren't doing a little of this here and a little of that there. Juan's content kept failing because it had no single subject, and the specific error was subtle: in the video that flopped, the main topic was the book he was reading, which drops him into a ring with fifty thousand people who review books, and that isn't him. In the one that worked, the main topic was building something, and the book was just the demo. Same clip, one difference the audience feels. The fix is a concept for the channel, now rebranded Bochica, after the Muisca teacher-figure: the subject is always building, and a tip lives inside a build, never as its own tutorial.
// trace: where this idea came from
For 120 videos across the vertical channels, nothing grew, and dialoguing with Claude, Juan distills why into a single branding law: to succeed you have to become a concept ▸ 16:59. You think Shakira, you think the voice and the hips. You think Bad Bunny, you think perreo, the libertinaje. Those people win precisely because they are not doing a little thing here and a little thing there; they are one legible idea. His problem was that he was a scatter of topics, and Claude named it: the content had no through-line.
The specific mistake is subtle enough to be worth the whole entry. He’d made a video reading a book with Koby, thinking the wow-editing and the voices would carry it, and it flopped. The reason: the main subject of that video was the book ▸ 15:00. And the moment the book is the main subject, he’s stepped into a ring with fifty thousand people who are addicted to reading and reviewing books, and that isn’t him, he even felt it as forced while recording. Compare the earlier video that worked, where the main subject was I built this thing, and the book was just the demo at the end, proof of what he’d made ▸ 16:16. Nearly the same footage. One difference in what it’s about, and the audience feels it.
el tip vive dentro de un build, nunca como su propio tutorial →
So the rule generalizes: if he wants to share a tip, say how to convert an image to SVG, he does not make a tutorial, because that throws him against everyone who makes tutorials. He makes a project where he’s building something, and the SVG tip lives inside it, small, incidental. The teaching rides on the concept; it is never the concept.
And the concept now has a name. He rebranded the channel from Severo Journey, almost to “Architect” (his Reddit handle, Architect of the Future), but chose something rooted: Bochica, from Muisca mythology, the wise bearded figure who came, taught his people, and vanished into the sky ▸ 20:53. They live in Chía, once the heart of Muisca culture; Gemini surfaced the name; and Bochica-as-builder, the maker, the inventor, is humbler than naming yourself a god and closer to who he is. The subject, from here on, is building…
