Fluent in French or fix the app
The six-month promise becomes a challenge with rules, starting tomorrow: all three partners learn French from zero using only Severo. Thirty minutes a day maximum so nobody outspends the others, nothing outside the app, and the clause that turns the diet into a roadmap: every time a learner feels stuck, the bottleneck gets identified and built as a feature. The motivation is a standing critique of the genre: language-app founders still speak only the languages they arrived with, which means they don't use their product, or it doesn't work. The dream sales line: we learned French from zero in here.

Yesterday’s meta-goal is a challenge by tonight, starting tomorrow ▸ 3:28: the three partners become Severo’s first full users and learn a new language inside it ▸ 3:44, Carlos’s consent recorded as “no dijo nada” ▸ 3:35. The council deliberated the language: Carlos proposed Korean, vetoed as too niche ▸ 4:17; everything any of them already speaks or has touched was disqualified ▸ 4:44; French won ▸ 4:03. Starting levels, declared for the record: Julia had three months of it in France ▸ 8:23; his French is “je ne sais quoi” ▸ 8:47.
The rules are three. Thirty minutes daily, a maximum, so all three spend identical time ▸ 6:09. Only Severo, nothing outside ▸ 6:50. And the clause that turns the diet into a roadmap: whenever a learner feels stuck or unmatched, name the bottleneck and build the missing functionality ▸ 6:55, Julia’s reading module, his video module, whatever the stall demands ▸ 7:15. Progress reports claim the first five minutes of every diary from here on ▸ 7:57.
si el fundador no aprende con su propia app, ¿quién? →
The why is his standing critique of the genre: the founders of the big language apps still speak the same two or three languages they arrived with, so either they don’t use their product or it doesn’t deliver ▸ 5:12. The prize is the sales line he wants to say honestly: “yo y mis socios conseguimos aprender francés desde cero” in this app ▸ 5:45, reach mastery with Severo and improve it on the way ▸ 7:38. Meanwhile the stage gets set: the app went out for public review, seven days maximum ▸ 10:55, four or five old friends joined the testers ▸ 10:46, and the signed contract traveled to the investor ▸ 10:23. Tomorrow, bonjour…
