Leagues, flames, and square animals
Severo's dead leaderboard gets a redesign by borrowed homework: Gemini, pointed at the codebase from Antigravity, prescribes Duolingo's playbook, bronze-to-diamond leagues of 30 to 50 users, weekly resets because all-time boards fossilize and discourage newcomers, a streak flame, auto-sync. The original problem left for Julia: avatars only work if accessories combine, which is why Duolingo's people are rectangles, and why Severo's may end up as standardized square animals.

The session runs on a new trick: a Meet call with Julia across the room so she sees his screen live, “una jugada de 9000 de IQ” ▸ 0:51. The patient is the leaderboard, which exists and does nothing ▸ 4:06. He points Gemini at the code from Antigravity and asks how to make it matter ▸ 16:22, and the answer is frankly Duolingo’s homework: split users into leagues, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond ▸ 17:52, thirty to fifty per league with weekly cycles ▸ 18:18, because an all-time board goes static and tells new users they’ll never matter, while a weekly one hands everyone a fresh chance ▸ 18:29. Add the streak flame ▸ 18:44 and kill the manual sync button ▸ 19:10.
el avatar solo funciona si todos caben en el mismo molde →
The part no model can hand him is identity. A good league makes people want to show off, and showing off needs an outfit ▸ 20:01, which points to avatars ▸ 19:40; but avatars are everywhere, and without a unique aesthetic Severo won’t stand out ▸ 21:04. Julia’s practical question, who draws all this ▸ 20:22, gets answered with the tools of the poor and clever, Nano Banana’s one free image a day, maybe Recraft ▸ 20:38. And the design insight that closes it is about constraint, not art: accessories only combine across characters if every character shares a standard silhouette, square animals in Severo’s own style ▸ 22:00, the same reason Duolingo’s humans are all rectangles ▸ 22:19. The live demo, meanwhile, keeps the record honest: voice exercises still mishear ▸ 11:28, a model problem he’s parked until Gemini 3 Flash Lite arrives ▸ 11:45. All of it, the coins included, is one system now: earn, rank, dress the animal…
