The last soldier

One month to the day since the padrino's first call, Julia says the word out loud: desmotivada. The audit is merciless: a month of design, research, and backend paid with one charger repair, an inventory of products never published, and the rule that judges them all: software nobody uses is worth nothing. What's left standing is Severo, 'el último soldado', the Leonidas.

// trace: where this idea came from

Julia opens with the diagnosis she rarely grants herself: “yo me siento un poco depresiva” ▸ 29:42, and the trigger is a date: today makes exactly one month since the padrino first called about the project ▸ 29:54. Her accounting of that month extends yesterday’s diagnosis: work nobody uses is spent energy and spent motivation ▸ 30:24, she alone analyzed more than fifty fonts ▸ 34:09, and the only money the padrino’s era ever produced was 150,000 pesos for fixing a charger ▸ 34:45. Her analogy deserves a frame: nobody walks up to a surgeon, or even a tattoo artist, and says operate on me, and if in a month I like the result, I’ll pay ▸ 32:46. Yet that’s the deal skilled people keep accepting from “opportunities”. The vow they broke gets read into the record: “dijimos que no seríamos más calientahuevos… lo que pasó fue de nuevo, huevones” ▸ 31:34.

el criterio es uno: ¿alguien lo usa? →

His half of the audit applies the software rule, “un software que nadie más utiliza no sirve para nada” ▸ 40:19, to his own shelf: LorenaMor never aired, Smith and Agentic half-built, Picky “a un pelito” and never uploaded ▸ 40:31, even the Girdley music project, four full days of work, never published ▸ 44:29. Structural causes get named too: three founders swimming toward different shores burn out aiming everywhere ▸ 35:44, and his hard-won advice is to start a company alone and add only true co-believers ▸ 36:15.

What survives the audit: “yo creo que al final Severo es como el último soldado, la última esperanza” ▸ 41:39, the Leonidas ▸ 42:02, alongside the socio’s task app; and if neither works, “se acabó la llama” ▸ 42:32. The open question they leave on the table is the decade’s founder-skill nobody teaches: “¿cómo saber si realmente hay una oportunidad real y no un calientahuevos?” ▸ 43:55
