A world where most people consume

Two more lines from the Rauch notes carry the weight: a world where most people passively consume instead of actively create is not one he wants to live in, and the growth-killer is a missing feedback loop, the belief you can perfect a product for a year before anyone asks for it.

The line that lands hardest, quoted off the interview: “la idea de que en el mundo la mayoría de la gente esté en forma pasiva consumiendo en vez de estar en forma activa creando, no es un mundo en el que yo quiero vivir” ▸ 59:20. Both of them extend it: a being that only receives, buys, and completes someone else’s idea “no te evolucionas 100% como humano” ▸ 59:58. It’s the same brain-rot fear as the batteries, stated as its cure rather than its symptom.

His amendment is more forgiving than the quote and better than it: most people do create, they just don’t notice they’re creating. The farmer testing whether cow manure grows better corn is generating knowledge ▸ 1:03:34, but experiences it as a normal day, not an experiment. Creation begins, he decides, the moment you test something constantly and share the result ▸ 1:03:42, which reframes raising kids as an experiment you can run rather than an obligation you endure ▸ 1:04:26.

The trap is the private simulation: you build in your head for a year convinced it’s the perfect product, “y después sales al mercado, nadie lo pidió” ▸ 1:11:16, exactly what the plaza visit just cured and exactly what makes good-enough possible. A short, fast feedback loop is the difference between a year lost and a week learned, and Rauch’s expansion is the one worth keeping: it’s not just for a company, it’s for your own life ▸ 1:11:40
