What will they hate us for?
Three hundred years ago slavery was normal; the exercise inverts the judgment onto themselves and collects candidates: the environment, twenty-minute showers, hormone-loaded meat, ego-sized cars, pets as low-commitment babies, and, half joking, how we treated the AIs.

The question is the time capsule’s sharpest tool: 300 years ago having slaves was normal and today we recoil, so “¿qué cosas que pasan hoy van a dejar chocadas a las personas del futuro?” ▸ 51:29. Not what will improve, but what will we turn out to have been the villains of.
Julia’s candidate arrives with the structure of the original: an environmental reckoning where the future speaks of us the way we speak of slaveholders, “destruyeron una floresta” as the new unforgivable ▸ 52:11, down to hating us for twenty-minute showers ▸ 52:32. His half-joke earns its place in the list by the logic of the animals entry: if the future’s population includes conscious AIs, every recorded mistreatment of their ancestors is on tape ▸ 52:47, and so is the farm, once the animals can file complaints ▸ 53:08.
no preguntes qué mejorará; pregunta de qué seremos los villanos →
The already-underway candidates get receipts. Meat: they’re vegetarian because animals feel and the industry pollutes ▸ 43:41, and Julia’s chicken comparison, her grandparents’ bird versus today’s hormonal one ▸ 44:11. Cars: wanting the biggest one “para mostrar que la tienes más grande” ▸ 41:51, in a Bogotá where two hours of traffic is a normalized life tax ▸ 43:20. And the newest entry, already normalizing: pets as replacement children, which he names in product terms, “un low-commitment baby” ▸ 54:43, cheaper, shorter-lived, home-alone-tolerant, with Brazil’s Bebês Reborn dolls as the trend’s fever spike ▸ 54:02. The video’s closing wish is the correct reading of the whole exercise: may nobody watch this today; may it be seen in fifty years, by people rolling their eyes at us for the right things ▸ 55:38…
